My latest monotypes will be on exhibit at Concordia College — New York in their Journey of Faith exhibit. This exhibit paired artists with churches in Bronxville, where the college is located, in order that the artist might create a work of art specifically in response to that space.
I was pleased to be selected, and was paired with St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Bronxville. I made a trip down there a rainy Friday in July and spent several hours taking photos and sketching in the beautiful Neo-Gothic church.
Upon return to my studio I wanted to create a series of monoprints that would express both the beauty but also the quiet mystery of the structure.
In addition to these two monoprints, the exhibition has also borrowed one of my paintings (not of St. Joseph’s) for the show and to feature on publicity materials.
The exhibit runs from September 14 – October 14, 2012. Concurrently on exhibit in the gallery with the Journey of Faith show is a CIVA (Christians in the Visual Arts) traveling exhibit entitled Seeing the Savior: Images from the Life of Christ.
