Italian Architecture Painting Exhibit
I am excited to announce an Italian architecture painting exhibit at the Schnormeier Gallery at Mt. Vernon University in Mt. Vernon, Ohio. This solo exhibit includes forty-five paintings, drawings and monotypes inspired by Italian architecture. There is a series of 10 new drawings and several new paintings from my most recent trip to Italy in 2023. The show will be on view from January 11 – March 15, 2024.
From the postcard invitation for Passages:
“Passages is an exhibition of paintings, prints, and drawings that focuses on liminal spaces in Italian architecture. Medieval archways provide a glimpse into the mystery of sacred spaces, highlighting the way in which they provide a place of convergence between heaven and earth.
Paine draws on her experience of living in Italy to create images which originated in specific places, but speak to the universality of constructed space as a signifier of the divine.”
Please join me Thursday, January 25, 2024 for an Artist Talk at 5:00pm, followed by the Opening Reception from 6-8pm.
