I am pleased to be able to participate in the Kreft Annual Juried Art Exhibit at Concordia University Ann Arbor again this spring. The theme of the exhibit is “Boundaries, Borders and Thresholds” and my monoprint “Approaching Dawn” will be included.
This print is a part of the series exploring the Virgin Mary, and the metaphors and paradoxes of prophecy and fulfillment between Eve and Mary. Mary stood at the threshold between human and divine, celestial and terrestrial in the Incarnation.
Here a pregnant woman stands illuminated by light pouring in the window: divine space breaks through into human space and time. The image embodies dwelling on the boundary of finite and infinite the way Mary did.
The exhibit runs from March 22-April 24, 2016 and there will be a reception Friday, April 1 from 7:00-9:00pm at the Kreft Arts Center Gallery, Ann Arbor, Michigan.
